September Newsletter
Management News
Greetings to all residents of Ventura Lakes. Please read the newsletter included with the water bills. We have some great information in that newsletter this month.
The men’s room at the clubhouse is completed and looks beautiful. Work will begin on the ladies restroom on Tuesday, September 2, 2008. We hope to complete that room in about 10 days.
Ventura Lakes and Riverside Oaks have joined forces and in cooperation with VaxCare will sponsor a clinic at the Ventura clubhouse on: Tuesday, November 4, 2008 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm. VaxCare will provide immunizations (influenza, pneumonia and tetanus) at that time. See the sign up sheets in the clubhouse or register online at www.vaxcare.com, go to “Patient Sign Up”, Enter clinic ID 756. We will be adding this to the TV and include notices in the next couple of newsletters.
We have replaced the small yard waste dumpster with a larger 20 yard, low sided dumpster. This should help to maintain neatness in that area and allow you more room to accommodate your needs with trimmings, branches and weeds. Remember, NO PLASTIC BAGS, are allowed in the yard waste dumpster. There are biodegradable waste bags available in stores in the area that are marked for biodegradable materials. These are the only bags allowed in this container. If you see anyone in the community abusing this container, please let the office so we can make sure the resident is aware of the rules.
The managers meeting for September will be held a week earlier than scheduled. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 in the clubhouse. Please be sure to attend this meeting, as we will discuss the lot fee increases, taxes and other items for next year.

FROM THE SOCIAL CLUB:
Our recent scare with Tropical Storm Fay is over. As president, I would like to thank management for the great job they did in securing our community. As of Monday morning, 8-18-08, they had everything from the shutters on the clubhouse down, to putting away the mats on the miniature golf course. This was a 'test' for all of us to be calm, but diligent in our efforts to secure our surroundings. The residents also did a wonderful job in helping their neighbors, and thank you to those who helped with the Social Clubs belongings.
The Sunset Picnic at Bayshore Live Oaks Park on Aug. 16 was a great success! Thank you to the Hosts, Paul & Judy Bilicic, and Heinz & Sharron Arenz. The food was great, the pavilion was wonderful, and the view was beautiful. A good time was had by all. And it didn't rain !!!
The next Social Club Event is our Labor Day Picnic. The fried chicken will be provided by the Social Club, and a sign up sheet has been posted on the bulletin board for those attending, please bring a dish to pass, and BYOB
We will also be having a Pizza Party / Golf Cart Races on Saturday, September 27th, out by the pool, weather permitting. All are encouraged to attend, and according to the attendance, we will order the pizzas and everyone will chip in. Sandy Klice is in charge of this event.
As Oktoberfest approaches, please watch the website, TV, and bulletin board for updates. We will need lots of volunteers for this event, and sign up sheets will be going up on the bulletin board the beginning of September. For those residents still up north, please send me an e-mail if you would like to volunteer. For the crafters, don't forget, the tables are free. So, reserve yours now, by calling Geri Bodnar.

Attention All Ladies:
The Classy Lassies of Ventura Lakes would like to extend an invitation to all the ladies of our community to join us in attending the musical play, “Hats”, the musical about the Red Hats that will be coming to the Barbara B. Mann Theater in October. We thought it might be fun to attend a matinee on Thursday, October 16th. We are asking all ladies in the community to join us for this event. The reviews on this show are fantastic. The matinee is at 2:00pm and ticket price is $34.00 plus tax. However, if we get a group of 20 or more, there is a 10% discount on the ticket price. We are planning to carpool and share travel expenses.
Lillian Burns has offered to go to the theater and pick up the tickets. To take advantage of the group rate we need to know by Sept. 13th how many of us will be attending. Please sign the sign-up sheet and when we know the exact number of attendees, we will then be able to let you know the exact discounted ticket price so you can submit your check for the tickets, made out to Lillian Burns.
For more information, contact Nancy Hull .
Congratulations:
Congratulations to Jack Cox and LaDonna Black upon the occasion of their marriage in Savannah Georgia on August 8. We wish the happy couple many years of wedded bliss. Submitted by Jack’s sister, Debra Sitz.
Bridge to Bliss:
That is the title to an article in the Kenosha News in Wisconsin one day last month. It seems that 25 years ago on August 13th 1983 Bob and Arlene Frazier got married and the place that it all began was a small bridge on the Kenosha County Fair Grounds. While attending the fair in the summer of 1982, Bob proposed marriage to Arlene on the little white bridge. She made him get down on one knee and he formally proposed to her. Now every time they visit they stop by the bridge and this year while there, a reporter from the Kenosha News was on hand to interview and publish their story and picture in the newspaper. I have a copy of the article posted on the bulletin board.
Congratulations Arlene and Bob.
Flag Dedication
On Saturday September 6th at 10:00am, the flag raising ceremony will be dedicated to the US Air Force.
